RED Day 2016 at Youth HavenRED Day 2016 Supporting Youth Haven Barrie

On the second Thursday in May, there is a spotlight shone on three of the nine guiding principles of the Keller Williams belief system:

Integrity: do the right thing

Teamwork: together everyone achieves more

      Success: results through people

This day, dubbed “RED Day,” which stands for Renew, Energize and Donate, is Keller Williams’ annual day of service. Each year the many Keller Williams brokerages spend this day away from business to serve organizations and causes important to their communities.

This year on Thursday, May 12th, the associates at Keller Williams Experience Realty and The Peggy Hill Team spent RED Day 2016 helping to renew and energize a very important organization in Barrie: Youth Haven.

Youth Haven provides love, support and life skills for homeless and abused youths between the ages of 16 and 21. As the only youth shelter in Simcoe County, Youth Haven provides a second chance to approximately 1,000 youths each year. They’ve been doing this for over 20 years – that’s more than 20,000 youths helped since they opened their doors! Youth Haven helps to shape the lives of thousands of teens by offering them a safe place to stay and the hope that comes from embracing a life full of possibilities.

Twenty years of serving the community has taken its toll on the shelter. This is why RED Day 2016 for Keller Williams Experience Realty was spent revitalizing it. Our agents and employees spent the day re-painting the laundry room, bathroom, hallways, kitchen, doors and bed frames. They installed and planted 4 vegetable garden boxes and shaped up the front flower garden. Another focus of the day was to help the shelter organize the pantry, storage room, laundry room and kitchen.

In addition, the associates all pitched in to donate some much needed supplies: futons, harvest tables, bus passes, Tim Hortons gift cards, bedding, etc. Helping to renew Youth Haven was an meaningful opportunity to reach out to the shelter and the youths in need to show them that the community cares and is here to support them.

Integrity, Teamwork and Success worked together on Thursday May 12th. The sun shone on Youth Haven as everyone worked to Renew, Energize and Donate to the community on the fourth RED Day since Keller Williams opened its doors in Barrie.

How can you help? Youth Haven is always looking for donations of hygiene items, clothing, pre-made dinners and gently used furniture. You can also help by donating online, hosting a fundraising event or becoming a volunteer. For more information on Youth Haven, visit their website:
